A Massage Therapist Near You In Dunfermline, Scotland and remotely with Knotsology Online Wellness & Self-Care Sessions

Having lived a nomadic life growing up in the military, Hawaii became the longest place I have lived in the US and my home state. My time living on Oahu and raising my kids on the island has left a footprint on my heart. I was taken in by the Aloha Spirit of the people of Hawaii.

“By definition of the Hawaiian Spirit Law, 'Aloha Spirit' is the coordination of mind and heart within each person. It brings each person to the self. Each person must think and emote good feelings to others. It means mutual regard and affection and extends warmth in caring with no obligation in return."

It is the basis of how I see and live life. So I keep a connection to the Island and remember the way the ocean waters and soft sands brought relaxation and clarity. It is reflected in the Knotsology Clinic, where I aim to make the space a place of unwinding and calm.

At Knotsology, I like to see the big picture. The process begins with a thorough consultation which can include range of motion testing, Orthopedic Testing and Special Orthopedic Tests. After the the treatment we retest and on subsequent appointments to measure your progress. It is all part of being a Jing Method Advanced Clinical Massage Therapist.

Advanced Clinical Massage Therapist & Musculoskeletal Pain-Care Specialist Whether you are maintaining your current health or wanting to treat persistent chronic musculoskeletal pain, the Jing Method looks at the biological, psychological, and social factors come into play with our body and stress, restriction, and pain.

The Jing Method™ is a partnership between client and practitioner where a six session treatment plan is designed to increase your mobility, agility, and joint range of motion (ROM), whilst focussing on decreasing your daily pain. The method works just like having Physiotherapy – where you book for a course of treatments and aim to get on a maintenance plan.”

My Educational Background I began my training in massage techniques in the mid 2000s while living in the US. I trained and licensed as a cosmetologist (similar to the UK's beauty therapist profession) in the US in the state of Hawaii. In 2019 my mum, a licensed massage therapist (LMT in the US), passed away. She inspired me with her use of massage to help people with chronic pain. This led me to the professional field of massage therapy to become an unparalleled expert in the arena of injury and pain management.

My goal became to obtaining a professional degree level qualification in Clinical and Sports Massage with the renowned Jing Advanced Massage school in Brighton, England. This award-winning 3 year part-time BTEC Level 6 Professional Diploma has included:

  • Bodywork Beginnings

  • ACMT (Advanced Clinical Massage Therapist) Certificate: Year one of BTEC Level 6

  • BTEC Level 6 Professional Diploma in Advanced Clinical Massage & Sports Massage: Year 2-3

I qualified in Bodywork Beginnings in the Autumn of 2019 and received my ACMT certificate a year later in 2020. I am currently on the last year of the BTEC working on my project proposal for my dissertation due in the beginning of 2023. Since beginning my journey as a Jing Method™ therapist I have also gone on to further continual education to include:

Reflecting on my experience of using massage in the last 18 years from treatments in the Hair and Beauty industry to Advanced Clinical Massage Therapy, I believe in its healing effects for a holistic look at health. Massage can be relaxing and luxurious. Having said that it can also help chronic pain and symptoms that impact our daily life. As a Musculoskeletal Pain-Care Specialist I use the Jing Method™ and the Biopsychosocial model of health, which demonstrates the importance of maintaining wellness in all aspects of our lives.
